PhD-thesis: Knowledge-based and machine learning systems in Geoinformatics

Omid Ghorbanzadeh obtained his Bachelor degree in mathematics from Shahid Madani University in 2011, and his MSc in GIS & RS from University of Tabriz in 2016. During his masters, his thesis was on modeling uncertainty and optimizing the GIS-MCDA methods for spatial databases. The thesis mainly focused on the zoning of land subsidence. After graduation, he joined the Department of Geoinformatics—Z_GIS, University of Salzburg as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof.  Thomas Blaschke, Dr. Dirk Tiede and Prof. Stefan Lang.

The main focus of his PhD research is on the design and implementation of machine learning and deep learning systems for Geoinformatics applications. He is also part of the research group on object-based image analysis (OBIA). His research interest includes extensions of deep learning systems for the remote sensing data.
