PhD thesis topic: His research interest focuses on automatic EO image processing and spatial databases in the context of remote sensing, image retrieval and big (earth) data

Martin Sudmanns is Geographer with strong expertise in Geoinformatics and Computer Science. He finished his master studies in Geoinformatics with distinction in Salzburg (2016). The master thesis deals with management of satellite images in array databases. His bachelor thesis in Tübingen was awarded by the Department of Geography (2012).

Recent research project experience (as well as proposal writing) include the FFG-funded AutoSentinel (Copernicus T-Systems Big Data Challenge Winner 2015) and SemEO project, as well as the DFG-funded Urban Emotions project. He also worked at the Chair of Geoinformation Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) (2015), the World Data Center for Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere (WDC-RSAT, DLR) (2013), and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Roceeh) (2011-2012). He is the initiator of sharecropper.earth (Austrian Copernicus EO Hackathon 2016).

His PhD research interest is large-scale spatio-temporal satellite image processing, dealing with methods for combined spatial and temporal analyses of satellite image time series directly in large databases.
