Short-Biography:

Andreas Koch is Professor for Social Geography at the University of Salzburg. His research and teaching interests include modelling and geosimulation techniques, multivariate and geo-statistics, urban geography and geographies of poverty and disparities. He is Vice President of the International Research Centre for Social and Ethical Concerns at the University of Salzburg and Assistant Director of the Salzburg Centre for Ethics and Poverty. After the study of geography, political science and spatial planning, he did his PhD and PostDoc (habilitation) at the Technical University of Aachen. Prior positions include research, lecturer and professor positions in Vienna, Klagenfurt, Sofia, and Munich.

Among others, he is member of the European Social Simulation Association (ESSA) and the Round Table GIS at the Technical University of Munich. Current research engagement is dedicated to demographic change, local theories of poverty eradication, and modelling social-spatial processes of urban segregation.
